Shaniwar wada : Shaniwarwada was the stately mansion originally built as the residence of the Peshwas. The foundation of the mansion was laid by Bajirao 1 in the year 1730 AD and construction was completed in 1732 AD at a cost of Rs. 16,120. Several additions were made to the palace like fortification walls with bastions, gates and court halls by his successors.

Raja Dinakar Kelkar Museum : It is one of the most important museums of the city and is housed in a Rajasthani building located on the Bajirao Road. It houses a wide range of fascinating Indian arts and crafts apart from a large number of other interesting artifacts. The museum is divided into 36 sections that include carved palace and temple doors, exquisite pottery works, traditional Indian lamps and paintings belonging to 17th century.

Aga Khan Palace : This palace is an important highlight of this town and flaunts beautiful arches, gracious building having salons, suites and spacious lawns. The palace holds a lot of historical importance since during the 1942 Quit India Movement, Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi were placed under house arrest by the British in this building. You must not miss this palace when you travel to Pune.

Parvati Hill temples : It is a splendid temple built by Balaji Baji Rao and occupies a significant place for the pilgrim tourists. You have to climb 108 steep and narrow steps in order to reach the hill top temple. Formerly it was the private shrine of the Peshwas. It also houses Parvati museum featuring portraits of Peshwas, ancient manuscripts and coins. From the top of the temple you can get the awe-inspiring views of the town.

Bund Garden
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pune and is also known as Mahatma Gandhi Udhayan. It is located on the right bank of the Mula-Mutha Rivers and was built by Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy to provide the poor with water during hot months of the summers. The adventure enthusiasts can indulge here in boat rides and horse rides.

Konark Park : Situated in the outskirts of Pune, ahead of Ambrosia and around 5 kms from Pashan is this beautiful bird sanctuary. It is a private collection of birds of Dr. Suhas Jog. The birds here have been collected by Dr. Jog over a period of 30 years from different parts of the world.

Lonavla : Lonavla is located at a distance of 62 km from Pune and 120 kms from Mumbai. The panoramic view of the town is really exciting. It is a beautiful and cool hill station of India decorated with streams; Buddhist rock cut caves and natural landscape. It also offers a very good trekking and hiking experiences to the visitors. A trekking to the Duke's Nose will give you the real charm of adventurous sporting. The town has now become a popular week end gateway from Mumbai and other parts of the country. The best time to visit the place is from October to May.

Khandala : Khandala, another pretty town of the state nestled amidst the hills and valleys of Sahyadri region is a popular hill station of Maharashtra. It is situated at a distance of 101 km from Mumbai and 69 kms from Pune. The panoramic views of the Western Ghats can be seen from this town. Around Khandala the worth visiting spots are Tugauli Lake, Lonavala Lake and Bhushi Lake and also the Walvan Dam.

Shinde Chhatri : Among the architectural sights, you shouldn't miss the memorial to the Great Mahadji Shinde. You can see the warrior's painted likeness in silver, swathed in a flame coloured turban and an elaborately worked shawl. At his feet are his original puja vessels, used to propitiate his family deity each morning. A painted sign requests you not to open an umbrella within the Chhatri's precincts as it would be insulting to the great warrior's memory. This monument was built as a tribute to the great Maratha nobleman Mahadji Shinde who was the Commander-in-chief of the Maratha Army under the Peshwas.

Lal Deval (Synagogue)

A red brick and trap stone building of English-Gothic style, the Lal Deval was built by the famous David Sassoon in 1867.
